ANYONE OUT THERE WANT MORE SEX?
July 11, 2008
The New York Times reports that Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema are “already at work” on a big-screen sequel to Sex and the City. Ultimately the decision rests with HBO President Richard Plepler, but another HBO bigwig is quoted as saying:
“There is enormous interest … And I think, in fact, they’re trying, with our help, to put that together now. When that happens, how long between, can’t say. But there’s absolutely interest.”
Neither Lark or me has seen the first one, so we can’t really say if the storyline is worth doubling down on. It’s not so much a big deal that I haven’t seen it, but Lark recently told me (in a drunken stupor) that it if anyone finds out she hasn’t seen it someone is going to “revoke her vagina.” Apparently it’s that serious.

SICK OF SEX & THE CITY YET?
June 5, 2008
Did SJP’s dress look for the NYC premier of SATC look familiar to you?
It may in fact, have. The strapless Nina Ricci gown designed by Olivier Theyskens, has been worn by by Lauren (Davis) Santo Domingo at the Met ball and Lindsay Lohan for a photoshoot.
HUGE scandal. For an event as big as the SATC premier, the dress Sarah chose to wear should have been a never before seen piece.
A lot of people will look at this and be rational, saying that these stars should be thankful top wear these beautiful gowns for free, but as the NY Times states, “wearing a dress on the red carpet is business, and it is regarded that way in Hollywood or in the fashion.”
That dress and designer is getting massive amounts of free PR, so Parker is rightfully upset. She feels “deceived” by both Grauso and Theyskens, who met her in the studio and told her the dress had never been worn before. She says, “It’s just unethical and disappointing that they would allow the dress to be worn again.”
I agree wih her, though I gotta say to the people over at Nina Ricci, I would be happy to wear one of your dresses no matter how many people have been photographed in it before.
Damn! NY Times Manohla Dargis takes The Most Important Movie Ever, aka The Chick Superbowl, and gives it a serious talking down, making me and the millions of women like me, feel just a bit guiltier about loving everything Sex and the City.
The review begins by saying “a little Botox goes a long way in “Sex and the City,” but a little decent writing would have gone even further.” Ouch!
Manohla then goes on to say she thinks it should not have even been made, saying “I wish Ms. Parker had let that bee in her bonnet go silent, because the movie that she and Mr. King have come up with is the pits, a vulgar, shrill, deeply shallow — and, at 2 hours and 22 turgid minutes, overlong — addendum to a show that had, over the years, evolved and expanded in surprising ways.”
OMG! It’s like vaginal blasephemy. Or is it?
Things got sexy outside of Radio City Music Hall yesterday as the stars of SATC hit the pink, swarovski-encrusted carpet. I should have been there, yet sadly was not (tears).
SJP donned Nina Ricci, Kim Cattrall turned up the heat in Vivienne Westwood, Kristen Davis donned Donna Karan and Cynthia Nixon chose a non-metallic Narcisco Rodriguez.
The crowd was massive and stretched around the block. Over 2,000 seriously pissed off women in too tall stilettos, who had won tickets via New Line Cinema’s promotions, were turned away because organizers overbooked.
After the filming, the party moved to MOMA’s Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden.
Swarowski donated over half a million dollars of its goods. Over 500 crystal heart ornaments adorned the trees in the garden and there was also a Blossom chandelier of pink and green crystals. In addition, more bling was added with a crystal-encrusted sofa worth over $100,000 (uncomfortable), a crystal curtain, crystal lanterns and fuchsia crystals on the DJ booth.
But that’s not all. Waiters passing hors d’oeuvres on trays with a “Sex and the City” logo made entirely of freaking Swarovski crystals!
Ashley Olsen, Mary J. Blige, Fergie, Edie Falco, Vogueeditor Anna Wintour, Lil’ Kim, Melania Trump and Jerry Seinfeld were just a few big names that came out for the glam evening.
I’m so freaking jealous!
What would you do for tickets to the SATC premier? MainStreet.com found a bunch scalpers on Craigslist pawning them off or trying to purchase them for a ridiculous price.

Buyer Says: “Am desperately [sic] trying to get tickets to this. My girlfriend is dying to go to this, and I want to make it happen. Willing to pay more if needed.”
For the Craigslist listing click here
Offering: $500
Buyer Says: “I’m looking for Sex and the Citypremier [sic] movie tickets. Im willing to pay top dollar, I wan’t to get them for my girlfriend as a bday gift!”
Alright: First off, guys who want to get them as gifts for your girlfriend, you are amazing. Secondly, don;t waste your money. I am willing to bet my first born child that these tickets are NOT real.
Here’s the situation: People invited to premiers are: those who provided mega-bucks for the films production, celebrities, top publicists involved in some way top the film, close friends or family of someone high up like the Director, journalists and in this case possibly high-profile NY officials like Guilliani and high-profile people in the fashion industry like designers or Anna Wintour. It’s not a public event that you can buy tickets to and none of the people who would get an invite would sell theirs. It would a) be unethical and b) a lot of times these tickets have numbers on them and you will get caught if you give them away.
I’m sorry. But I am sure the movie will be as good in another theater at another time.
SEX & THE CITY SPOILERS
May 13, 2008
While I would like to hate on Sex and The City for creating a fantasy world in which Jimmy Choos make you happy, sex is always good and a writers salary affords you expensive nights out and designer labels, I just can’t. I am sorry, but I love it!
So like the rest of the women in Manhattan and around the globe, I have been keeping a close watch on the entire unvieling from photos of them shooting to every interview one of the actors has had since the film was announced.
There are however, still some secrets to the Sex and the City flick, aka The Longest Commercial For Too Expensive Products Ever.
For those who can’t wait till May 28 for the major plot lines, click through.
