So, the American Medical Association (AMA) is on a warpath over the new “Incredible Hulk” movie starring Edward Norton, hitting theatres this Friday. One of the main characters, General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, is seen with a cigar in his mouth in every frame.
Cigars = tobacco = death; PG13 movie = kids = impressionable minds … you get the idea.
AMA is on the side of the angels here - don’t get me wrong; both lark and I are smokers, we know full well how revolting (slash) sickly we are.
But what struck me about the AMA press release was the thought: when are they going to go on record blasting Obama for his smoking? Surely the (future) President of the United States holds much more sway over the hearts and minds of kids than any blockbuster movie.
