JOHN MCCAIN’S CLOSING ARGUMENT: ME OR WILLIAM AYERS?

By shadow campaigner

After two years, tens of millions of dollars, thousands of campaign stops, hundreds of speeches, dozens of debates… this is what McCain has for the American people. This is the best case he can make for why he should be elected President in the midst of a global economic recession and multiple U.S.-led military efforts abroad.

No one in this race is perfect. No one is without “questionable associations.”  Not John McCain with his neo-Nazi and criminal pals, nor Sarah Palin, who’s secessionist buddies, aside from having an ugly history of anti-Semitism and financial ties to Iran, hate America so much that they literally want to be divorced from the rest of us.

McCain did the math and concluded all that’s left for him is to make people afraid of Barack Obama. So if you honestly believe that Barack Obama is a terrorist, or a terrorist sympathizer, or that he doesn’t love his country as much as you or I do, then that’s your choice.

But with all the hate-filled, murderous, hysterical behavior we’re seeing from McCain-Palin supporters right now it’s becoming increasingly apparent that, to borrow a line from Jeff Goldberg, what people are really afraid of is the presence of an African-American in the White House. Period.

And if that’s the case then, believe it or not, it would be more “honorable” of McCain-Palin supporters** simply to simply come out and admit that, straight up, versus couching their hostility in overblown associations or flat out lies.

** [edit: I'm leaving out people who may have legitimate policy-related objections to Obama because they're not the people McCain is targeting right now, either with this ad or his campaign's closing argument.]

    Dear John Mccain,

Up until this week, I believe you to be a honorable man and a war hero. I can not believe that when I hear you using fear to get votes. You have issues that you should be pushing, not trying to make out Obama to be a outsider and or terrorist. This is sick and wrong and is not what America is about. You spent five years in a POW camp, you know what that kind of energy is about, that leads to hate and lowers the cause. Get out of the gutter or you are going to lose more votes.

    have you seen this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjxzmaXAg9E

    this is sick.

You might not agree with obama, but he is a father and a brother and a husband, His daughter should not have to hear things like this said. Be the hero and leader that you can be and stop this line of attacks. Attacks on the issues are fair game. Not name calling.

    a voter you cares.

Senator McCain, please be the man with honor we have known for many years. What’s happening is reckless and something horrible is going to happen. The Republican party will have this on their hands. I am sickened to see the party as it is today.
