MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell asks Obama spokesperson Bill Burton about the “ugliness” we’ve seen at Palin-McCain rallies in recent days…

Burton, ever on the “on-message” guy, downplayed the significance of the random calls for murder and instead claimed that whatever “anger” exists over there is misplaced, that what McCain should be angry about the shrinking middle class… blah blah blah.

So we’ve got Joe Biden rightly calling attention to this unacceptable behavior but using kid gloves while doing it & now Bill Burton shifting away from the despicableness of these acts to talk about John McCain’s lack of focus on the middle class…

It seems like the Obama campaign doesn’t want to talk about this issue too much. Or if they do they’re worried about people saying they’re exploiting the situation.

This could be like their reluctance to speak about the racism that people are seeing out there, i.e., they don’t want Americans to be thinking anything other than happy thoughts about Barack Obama.

This feels like the right strategy for the campaign to take, but the fact that John McCain and Sarah Palin is condoning this hate by not speaking out against it is beyond disappointing.

There’s no point in being disappointed in Sarah Palin because the jury’s still out on if she was ever even a good person to begin with.
