I’ve said this before, but I have a sinking, dark, terrifying feeling that John McCain is going to shock the world and tap either Meg Whitman, Kay Bailey Hutchison or Sarah Palin for VP.
Romney is a sucker. They would have 15 houses between the two of them. Plus, it would be the quintessental flip flop ticket. And he’s Mormon. Plus, he’s probably out.
Bobby Jindal is super attractive, I just don’t think it’s his time.
Tim Pawlenty is OK; he’s going to be a good attack dog, if picked.
Tom Ridge is out.
My fantasy would be for McCain to pick his good friend, the man without a spine, Joe Lieberman…basically because it would ensure calamity within the GOP party. But not even John McCain is that dumb.
So, for me, the nightmare scenario is for McCain to pick a pro-life woman candidate … for him to stand up tomorrow morning and talk about the 18 million cracks in that class ceiling and the need for a woman to hold executive office.
That, my friends, would make shit really, really difficult for Democrats right now — just when we’re trying to get our unity on.
Lastly, if McCain does pick a woman, and tons of women Democrats pledge to vote for the McCain/woman ticket, then all the pundits have to, have to, talk about how white women in this country are voting their race and gender.
After all, for months we’ve heard that African Americans are supporting Obama simply out of racial pride … if a woman is topping the GOP ticket and Dem women are switching sides, then we ought to see it called both ways, or not at all.
