While speaking before the National Urban League last week, John McCain said that affirmative action is, QUOTE, “in the eye of the beholder.”
Maybe so.
But then Maureen Dowd’s piece in the Times today reminded me of something, and I’ve been eyeballing John McCain ever since.
Why not be straight with the American people about the fact that affirmative action helped get you where you are today?
“McCain could dismiss W. as a lightweight, but he knows Obama’s smart. Obama wrote his own books, while McCain’s were written by Salter.
McCain knows he’s the affirmative action scion of admirals who might not have gotten through Annapolis without being a legacy. Obama didn’t even tell Harvard Law School that he was black on his application.“
Nuff said.

So if it was good for McCain, it’s good for the rest of America? Uh…
Interesting to note that McCain COULD have left his prison hole where he was kept for years because of his legacy. He refused to step ahead of his fellow soldiers.
