HILLARY & SEXISM IN THE MEDIA: IT’S TIME TO FIGHT BACK!

Hill has been plagued by sexism throughtout her entire campaign and I am happy to say that women and her supporters are fighting back.  Here on Meaningful we have posted “Media Hall of Shame” videos and are joining the voices (see related links below) calling for Obama and Hill to address sexism in a speech.*

*(Which according to Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who supported Hill and is now speaking for the Obama campaign, is unlikely to happen since Obama “already incorporates themes of discrimination as a societal problem into his speeches.”)

The majority of the media however, feels that these allegations are false and that they only arose once Hill has fallen behind.  Basically-crying sexism is a way to scapegoat.

Well fuck that!

More has been said about Hillary’s make-up and hair style (Wall Street Journal even wrote about her clevage!)  than any other politician.

I don’t beleive anyone has ever compared a male politicians stumping to the shrill noise of a spouse like CNN’s Headline News host Glenn Beck who stated: “She’s the stereotypical bitch. You know what I mean? She’s that stereotypical nagging — [screeching]. You know what I mean?” Or what about MSNBC’s Mike Barnicle who said Hill is  “looking like everyone’s first wife standing outside a probate court.”

Now, Howard Dean and several womens groups are taking aim and calling for a “national discussion” of sexism.  Please, please, please everyone, visit NOW, Emily’s List and Media Matters to find out how you can help!
