Consistent with my aforementioned shoe fetish, I bring you Air Force Barack. I saw these a few months ago online and spent the next couple days tracking down the person responsible.
He’s a 25 year old from Cincinnati named Van, myspace page here. Approachable and enormously talented, he designs custom shoes about everything from the Genocide in Darfur to San Francisco skylines. Next week around this time I’ll be up a few grand at the craps tables in Las Vegas; my second purchase (after a rib eye from Smith & Wollensky) will be a new pair of custom made kicks.
..Except I’m going to request a little something special. I want a pair of dunks featuring the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Black and Gold to match that infamous dashiki, the left foot should read: “God Bless America?” only to have the right foot counter: “Naw, Naw, Naw, Naw, GOD DAMN AMERICA!”
More pictures of Van’s work after the jump.
